Deleting your SpeakRight account

You can delete your SpeakRight account and everything stored with it at any time. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Option 1 — delete it yourself in the app

  1. Open SpeakRight and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm in the dialog.

Your account is removed immediately.

Option 2 — ask us by email

If you can no longer sign in — for example you lost access to your Google or Apple account, or you used SpeakRight without an account — email support@getspeakright.com from the address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my account”.

We reply within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days.

If you used SpeakRight without an account (“Continue as guest”), that account is not tied to any personal identifier, so we cannot look it up from an email. Delete it from the app while you still have it installed, using Option 1. Anonymous accounts that stay inactive for 90 days are deleted automatically.

What is deleted

  • Your account and sign-in identifiers (email address, display name, profile picture URL).
  • All voice recordings you made in exercises, and their transcriptions.
  • All AI-generated feedback: pronunciation scores, error highlights, corrections, conversation history.
  • Your profile settings: level, accent, selected topics, reminders.
  • Your subscription record on our backend.
  • Analytics and diagnostic events linked to your account, which we ask PostHog to delete on your behalf.

What is not deleted, and why

  • Your subscription itself. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. Deleting your SpeakRight account does not cancel an active subscription and does not issue a refund — cancel it in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings first. See Apple and Google for how.
  • Anonymous analytics captured before you signed in. These events are not associated with your account and cannot be matched back to you, so there is nothing to delete on a per-person basis. They fall off under PostHog’s retention window.
  • Records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax records held by the app stores.

Timing

Deletion from the app takes effect immediately. Backups and downstream systems finish purging within 30 days.
