Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using SpeakRight (the “App”) or this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.

What SpeakRight does

SpeakRight is a tool to help you practice spoken English. You record yourself, the App transcribes and analyzes your speech, and you get AI-generated feedback on pronunciation, accent, fluency, and word choice.

The feedback is best-effort and automated. It is not a substitute for professional language instruction, and we do not guarantee any specific level of fluency, exam result, or learning outcome.

Your account

You may use the App with or without an account.

If you create an account (via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple), you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. Notify us at support@getspeakright.com if you suspect unauthorized use.

You agree to provide truthful information and to keep it up to date.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any local, national, or international law.
  • Attempt to circumvent the App’s subscription or rate-limit mechanisms.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App’s source code, except as permitted by law.
  • Submit recordings containing other people’s voices without their consent, or content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise harmful.
  • Use the App to scrape, harvest, or extract data at scale.

Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

SpeakRight offers paid subscriptions for full access to all features. Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID or Google Play account, not by us.

  • Prices and trial periods are shown in the App and may vary by region.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • To cancel: open your device’s App Store / Play Store settings → Subscriptions → SpeakRight → Cancel.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple and Google according to their respective policies. We are not able to issue refunds directly.

We may change prices at any time. Existing subscribers are notified before any price increase takes effect.

User content

The voice recordings you submit are your content. You grant us a non-exclusive license to process them for the purpose of giving you feedback (transcription, scoring, suggestions), as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your recordings to train general-purpose AI models.

You retain ownership of your recordings. You can delete them at any time by deleting your account, which removes all associated data within 30 days.

App content and IP

The App, its content (UI, illustrations, audio prompts, exercise text), and its codebase are owned by SpeakRight and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App for your own English learning, subject to these Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms, attempt to defraud or harm us or other users, or use the App in a way that creates legal or security risks.

You may stop using the App at any time. Deleting the App removes it from your device; deleting your account (Settings → Delete Account in the App, or via support email) removes your data from our backend within 30 days.

Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the AI feedback will be accurate in every case.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SPEAKRIGHT WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. For material changes, we will notify you in the App or by email. Continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where SpeakRight is incorporated. (Specific jurisdiction to be confirmed before public release — see Open items in the project README.)
